Hayley Gibson-Forbes, Director of S J Forbes Group, reveals the top women's hairstyles and colour trends for spring/summer 2017.

Wave Machine

This spring/summer think screen sirens of the 40’s era complete with full lips and classic waves. Take inspiration from Charlotte Olympia at LFW S/S17 for a look that radiates classic Hollywood. The curls were reinvented and brought a true Broadway feel to the catwalk. To recreate the look, prep hair with Goldwell Style Sign Naturally Full styling spray, which instantly thickens and volumises hair. Finish with a matt red lip for true Hollywood-style glamour.

Crinkle Cut

Another catwalk comeback is the return of crimped hair. With crinkle cut ponytails on the rise on the celebrity red carpet, Topshop Unique took things one step further at LFW S/S17, with bed head locks crimped to retro perfection and swept up and over to one side. There’s some serious 80s nostalgia with this look, and only one rule – the bigger the better. Prep hair with Goldwell Dual Senses Ultra Volume Gel Shampoo and Conditioner. Once dry, crimp the hair, styling large sections at a time for mermaid inspired crinkles. Add big accessories and a deep burgundy pout for the ultimate 80’s grunge twist.

In the Shade

Temporary hair colour has never been so on point. Take inspiration from Paco Rabanne at Paris Fashion Week S/S17 and add non-permanent spray colour to slick-backed locks, tucked behind the ears. This season we’re talking bolder shades than the pastels of Spring/Summer 2016, with midnight blue palettes on dark hair and deep fuchsias on light. The bright colours of the catwalk are still achievable without having to brave an all-over colour permanently. Try Goldwell Colour Styling Mousse, which can be easily applied with a brush or comb, without rinsing, for creative colour without the commitment.
