Sometimes the last thing we feel like doing is slogging away blow-drying our hair. Brushing it straight, curling it, blasting it dry – sitting there for however long it takes until the job is done.
There are two huge benefits to letting your hair dry naturally. One is obviously the amount of time you save, and two is giving your hair a much needed rest from heat styling.
There are a few things that you can do that will help you achieve air-dried perfection...
Think about your style
A good haircut will not only keep your hair in a healthy condition, but it can also aid in air drying. Longer cuts work best for a more undone feel and will help stop frizz, as the length will weigh it down.
When towel drying, make sure you get as much water out of the hair as possible and then lightly comb through once – and once only - to maintain your hair’s natural texture. Product is important here to stop the hair from going frizzy and to enhance your natural wave and movement. A curl/wave cream works best, or a product especially suited to air drying such as Bumble and Bumble’s Don’t Blow It (H)Air Styler. For very fine hair, use oil on the ends instead to keep it looking healthy.
Once washed, towel-dried and product applied simply leave your hair alone. The more you play around with it, the more you will disturb it. Once it’s dry you can add a little more product if required, and then you’re good to go!
