Washing Textured Hair

Share

For those that are blessed with beautifully, natural textured hair; the chore of washing such a mane can be an annoyingly long and boring task.

Knowing the key to washing textured hair will help you get the job done and get it right, leaving you with gorgeous enviable texture so you can get on with enjoying the warm summer sun.

Less is more!

Ask yourself this; your favourite pair of jeans, how often do you wash them? Chances are you don’t wash them that often, in order to keep their shape and colour that suits you so well. Well think of your hair in the same manner. Textured hair, with all it’s curls and twists, slows down the natural oils produced by your scalp, which is a benefit to you in that your hair takes longer to get greasy.

With this in mind, try getting into the routine of only washing your hair once a week. This way, you won’t strip your hair of its natural oils, keeping it beautiful and healthy looking.

Easy does it!

Shampoo and conditioning has come a long way lately, especially with the invention of co-washing – using a specially formulated product of shampoo and conditioner in one to gently cleanse the hair. We highly recommend using Schwarzkopf Professional’s Moisture Kick Micellar Cleaning Conditioner. Use this to massage throughout wet hair every third wash to help clean and condition the hair and scalp.

For regular cleansing we recommend using a sulphate-free shampoo such as Kerastase’s Bain Fluidealiste, which is perfect for thick, textured hair. Followed by the Fluidissime Leave-in Spray.

Scrub that scalp!

A healthy scalp equals healthy hair. Focus on cleansing your scalp when washing, as the cleanser will naturally run down your hair as you rinse taking any dirt and debris along with it. Massage your cleanser into your scalp using your fingertips in small circular motions.
