The New Normal: Lou Lou Munro
With the lockdown now lifted in Dubai, we wanted to catch-up with some of our Good Salon Guide UAE salon owners to see how they are dealing with salon life after lockdown. Here, we caught up with Lou Lou Munro of Locks By Lou Lou Hair Boutique, Al Wasl and JLT...
Hi Lou, what is salon life like now after the lockdown has eased?
When it was announced that salons in Dubai would be able to open the doors with restrictions on some services, I cried with happiness and felt completely overwhelmed. It has been magical to get back into a routine again and be with the team and interact with our clients.
However lots of things have changed...
We now need to focus on delivering our services with very strict precautions to make sure our team, our customers and our salons are safe every minute of every day we open for business. Clients can be quite nervous, and so we need to make them feel at ease to help them be confident that we will do everything we can to protect them while they are in our care. Being in a calm environment will help people feel comfortable and trust you, and will lead to them mentioning you to their friends because they will love you even more as they feel vulnerable at this time of unknown.
The guidelines we need to stick to are quite full on! We need to monitor how busy the salon is at all times and continue with ongoing salon cleaning, social distancing and sanitization.
I would say to all salons, no matter what country you're in, that it is important to let your clients know what you are doing as a team to keep them safe, and what is expected from them as the client.
Baby steps are being taken, and hopefully by following the guidelines and monitoring our every move, we can stay open and life will slowly return back to normal.
Stay positive, things can only get better!
