My skin is incredibly irritated and unbelievably itchy!

Hello,

I was just enquiring about my skin.

Long story short, I have suffered with alopecia for the past year or so now and with it my skin has started to become very irritated and unbelievably itchy - to the point where I used to bleed.

It looks a lot like eczema (quite patchy and dry), and it becomes worse during the summer months. I was just wondering if you could give me some advise please?

Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your skin. It is important that you get an accurate diagnosis of the condition affecting your skin, as the appearance of eczema, psoriasis and rosacea are often quite similar but the causes and subsequent treatments may differ.

Although it has not been proven that there is any correlation between alopecia and eczema, it is commonly considered that one of the contributing factors of eczema can be stress. It is also believed that as alopecia is an autoimmune disorder it may leave you more prone to other autoimmune disorders such as psoriasis.

I would recommend that you seek professional medical advice as you may need to be referred to a dermatologist to get to the bottom of this condition to establish if indeed the two are linked.

I hope you find this advice helpful and that you are able to get some help to alleviate your symptoms.
