What can I use to help with the thinning of my hair?

You are here

Over the years my hair has really thinned out from the scalp. I would like to know which treatment of shampoo is best.

Furthermore I am considering hair extensions but do not know where to start with those, if you can advise me in which ones I could go for that do not damage your hair that would be great.

Many thanks,

Anon, UK

I really sympathise with you, we meet a lot of clients with the same issue and we know how distressing it can be.

I strongly recommend you try the Nioxin system; it cleanses, revitalises and stimulates blood flow to the scalp to help promote fuller thicker hair. As for hair extensions, with the root of your hair being in a weakened condition my fear would be the weight from the added hair would make matters worse.

I know it's frustrating but the health of the hair and scalp is priority. In the meantime Bumble and Bumble do an amazing thickening range, try the full form mousse and the dryspun to create a full, airy silhouette.

I hope this helps,

Dear Anon,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem, please be assured that you are not alone. With regards to treatment I recommend using Nioxin shampoo which should promote hair growth, although results may vary from 4/6 weeks.

As for the hair extensions this is not the solution for concealing hair loss since this can result in further damage. However, I recommend that you speak to a consultant with regards to the different types of extensions available, bonded, clip-in, weave or bond free extensions.

I hope this helps,
