Aveda Announces Gina Conway as its Sustainability Ambassador

Aveda has appointed Gina Conway as its Trade Sustainability Ambassador in the UK, promoting the brand’s sustainable initiatives and supporting the Aveda salon network to implement meaningful practices.

Originally from California, Gina opened her first Aveda gallery-inspired salon in 2001 and has manifested the environmental and healthy lifestyle focus she grew up practicing. Now owning a multi-award-winning Aveda Lifestyle Salon group in the south and southeast of England, Gina’s pursuit of greater environmental awareness has seen her herald as a champion of sustainability within the industry.

In her role as Trade Sustainability Ambassador for Aveda UK, Gina will work closely with the brand’s salon network to deepen their connection and understanding of Aveda’s CSR principals and to share best practice, including monthly webinars, salon audits, fundraising guides, and the creation of Sustainability Champions. As part of this, Aveda will document Gina’s journey to becoming even more sustainable and share this with the network.

Gina will also support the communication of wider Aveda sustainability initiatives, such as Earth Month, Veganuary, and promoting Aveda’s commitment to environmental responsibility in hair and beauty. Gina said:

I am so excited and truly passionate about my new role as Trade Sustainability Ambassador for Aveda UK. I have so much great information to share and how to make smarter choices in business that consider the earth first. I have a huge interest in this aspect of environmental responsibility since I started with Aveda 20 years ago and feel there are a lot of steps my fellow salon owners can take to become a more sustainable business.

I want to work across all aspects of sustainability in our industry, starting from the ways in which we can cut back our carbon footprint and make being a beauty professional a force for good in an industry renowned for high energy and water usage. I am planning lots of talks and collaborations with salon owners to help them achieve a leap forward in their sustainable journey and look forward to sharing more soon.
