Dawn Johnstone has been with browns for seven years, working through the Nelson Brown education programme, she always showed commitment from the start.

As someone who has an eye for talent, Nelson could see Dawn’s calm and professional approach, which was something to nurture and develop. As part of the creative team, Dawn has been a regular at the Wella World Studio, Manchester where she teaches browns’ creative collections. 

Dawn says,

browns has given me such amazing opportunities and I have taken them with open arms. I never thought I would be working with Nelson on creative shapes, or at the level I am now. It just shows that if you work hard, you get your rewards.

Dawn was a UK and Ireland Trend Vision Finalist in 2014, reaching the top five in Scotland and the top 20 in the UK at the Grand Final in London. But, her latest accolade is something else. 

As part of the Wella Master Colour programme, this rigorous test of formulation, application and a calm head is equivalent to a degree level. And Dawn smashed it with a 92% pass rate! Not only did she fit all that knowledge and training alongside a fully booked column, but she surpassed all expectations with her pass mark.

Dawn said,

I love brining my knowledge to my clients, to share and inspire them. The Master Colour programme was hard work, and I was nervous, but look where it got me, I'm thrilled. It gives me so much more insight as to what not to do, not, what to do.

The browns’ team are very proud of Dawn’s achievements, especially Nelson,
