Hairdressing training providers based in Essex and East London are celebrating having won official recognition for offering an excellent atmosphere for learners and staff.

Central Training Group, who operates Central Hairdressing Academy in Essex and Joshua Galvin Academy in East London, has been re-awarded the prestigious Matrix Standard. The Standard is a unique quality framework for organisations to assess and measure their information, advice and guidance, which support individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.

Over a three-day period, staff and learners at the hairdressing-training centre faced a series of in-depth interviews about their training. Employers, partner organisations and sub-contractors were also questioned about the support, careers advice and progression guidance they give and receive.

Having been re-awarded the status, Central Training Group staff was told by Matrix assessors that there was a great energy and focus within the organisation.

The in-depth report also stated that the culture was team-based with all levels of staff working closely together to produce an inviting, motivating and supportive atmosphere for learners.

Martin Kolton, MBE, chairman of Central Training Group has long been an advocate of apprenticeships having begun his own career as an apprentice. He said:

I have spent much of my career championing apprenticeships and the delivery of outstanding training to young people. My commitment and passion for training is shared by my whole team and I am delighted that this has been recognised by the assessors and we have once again been awarded the Matrix Standard.

Having the Standard shows both employers and learners that we are wholeheartedly committed to supporting trainees at every level of their education to ensure they get the best possible start to a fulfilling career.
