Clynol Announce ProtŽgŽ Team

Share

Hopeful young hairdressers were put to the test in Clynol’s hunt for this year’s Protégé styling stars, with the chosen final six being revealed as:

  • Kirby Brewer from Luisa Butera Creative Hair, Kidderminster
  • Cassie Jackson from Doo Dahs, Bishops Stortford
  • Lauren Saunders from Hoop Haircutters, Clacton-on-sea
  • Clare Hatherall from Elizabeth & Giovanni, Kidderminster
  • Rebecca Tomlinson from Hair by Michael Ford, St Helens
  • Elise Ricketts from Alberico, Leicester

The applicants were judged by Ross Taylor, Creative Director at Falltricks Hair & Beauty, Tim Scott-Wright from The Hair Surgery and British Hairdressing Awards ‘Hall of Fame’ member, and Hensmans’ Director, Gemma Hensman.

The Protégé judging process consists of three stages, the first being an initial ‘first-cut’ phase where applicants send in a personal pitch explaining why they feel they should be considered for the team, along with a summary of the creative work they will demonstrate at the next phase should they be selected.

Shortlisted applicants are then invited to a face-to-face interview and presentations where they bring models along and have one hour to complete their cutting and styling for the judges to assess them on practices and confidence. In the final stage, finalists must present their work to the judging panel in a three minute slot, showing good technical knowledge and presentation skills. Team mentor Jamie Farrar said,

I am so happy with the chosen team. Everyone has the right assets to succeed and there’s a great dynamic of skills and personalities. Thanks to the judges we have managed to find a fantastic team and I cannot wait to work with them and experience this year alongside them.
