The Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award Regional Finals took place in Thomond Park last week and local Cork Hairdresser John Geaney took 1st place in the colour category. John now goes on to compete at the UK & Ireland Final in London.

This is one of hairdressing industry’s most prestigious competitions. From over 200 competitors at the initial photographic stage, 61 entrants were selected to present at the regional finals. John goes forward representing Munster & Connaught to fight for the chance to represent Ireland at the International Final in New York, this October.

John is no stranger to the top spot, having taken first in national awards twice before. He won 1st place in the IHF national finals Colour Category 2008 and took 1st again at the Wella Trend Vision colour category in 2008/09.

John said,

This is very exciting for us and is a testament to the skill and knowledge we have built up in the salon over the years. The win also reminds us that we are offering a world class service to our customers and they love it!

The next step is the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award UK & Ireland Final, due to take place on Monday 26th September at legendary cultural venue, The Roundhouse in London’s Camden. A lot of work and preparation is going into getting the look just right. A win here would mean the salon representing Ireland at the world finals in New York in November.

The regional finalists were judged by some of the most highly regarded industry experts, including:

•Davide Scarna and Faye Turner of Sassoon Academy.
•Maeve O’ Healy Harte, Editor of Irish Hairdresser International.
•Sive O’ Brien, Fashion Editor, Liz Dwyer, Beauty Editor and Melanie Morris, Editor of IMAGE magazine.

P&G Salon Professionals Technical Manager for Ireland, Sinead O’ Sullivan said,

The Trend Vision Award continues to evolve and push the boundaries of hairdressing talent to the limits. Every individual who has reached the UK & Ireland Final should feel extremely proud of what they have achieved. It’s fantastic to see so much passion and creativity and our esteemed panel of judges found the standard of work higher than ever before.
