Loyally Blonde

Share

Research commissioned by Fudge Professional has revealed some interesting truths about blonde’s loyalty towards their hair colour and what they go through to maintain their identity. 81% of blonde-haired British women are completely loyal to their hair colour, so much so, that 40% of women would rather wear no make-up than have no hair dye to keep their blonde locks in check.

The research revealed that despite blondes having the most fun, their bank balances certainly don’t, as 73% of blondes will spend an average of £600 a year keeping their locks looking its best.

Maintaining blondes doesn’t just cost money; it’s also really time consuming to keep the desired colour when leaving the salon, and as we all know too well, blondes have a tendency to go brassy. Celebrities including singer Gwen Stefani, a-list actresses Blake Lively, model Gigi Hadid and Sienna Miller are all faithful blondes, but do they know how to stop their blonde locks from going brassy and yellow? Well, a staggering 65% of blondes don’t know what products to use to remove the brassy yellow tones and 29% state they are concerned about going yellow.

Other key findings include:

  • 76% of women agree that their hair colour is part of their identity
  • 42% of blondes have changed their hair colour but with very little commitment, as within less than a year, 54% of blondes changed back to their original hair colour
  • 46% of blondes noticed a change in the type of shade that want/would like

Tracey Hayes, Global Head of Technical Training at Fudge Professional said,

Hair becomes yellow or brassy because of many factors such as the sun and heat styling, but it all starts with the frequency of hair washes. The more you wash your hair, the faster it tends to go yellow. I always advise my clients to use a colour specific shampoo such as Fudge Professional Clean Blonde Shampoo (RRP £12.55). For everyday styling, Fudge Professional has launched a salon strength violet toning blow-dry spray, Clean Blonde Violet Tri-Blo (RRP £12.95), which instantly removes the yellow, revealing cooler, ashy blonde tones.
