Rainbow Room International X Glasgow Caledonian University

On Wednesday 31st May Rainbow Room International attended the Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) Fashion Show 2018 where they were honoured to be asked by I’ll be Your Mirror, who helped to organise the event, to style the hair backstage.

The GCU Fashion Show showcases the innovative work of the students on their International Fashion Business programme and features creative designs created by 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students. As Glasgow’s premier hair salon, with a solid reputation for excellence and harbouring world-class talent, the Rainbow Room International Artistic Team, led by Dylan Brittain, 2016 and 2017 Scottish Hairdresser of the Year with Suzie McGill, were invited along to the event to lend their services and help backstage with the hair, enhancing the final catwalk model looks.

The Rainbow Room International Artistic Team’s brief for the show was 90’s grunge hair and the team were provided with mood boards to give them ideas of the looks the students wanted to create for the show. The team provided the female models with grungy, really undone, textured looks with a slight wet look to them and the male models with the same grungy finished looks that were squared off at the front. To achieve the looks, they embraced the models own natural textures and almost looked as though they were sticky, the Rainbow Room International team tried not to use too much products and simply stuck to a couple of key products. This included Schwarzkopf OSiS+ Session Label Salt Spray to give the hair texture and a more

matted look and Rainbow Room International Glossette Styling Spray to provide the hair with long lasting body and shine.
