R+Co Turn Their Vision On

Share

Hudson Loft in Los Angeles was transformed to an immersive visual R+Co experience on Monday 12th November.

Arriving at the sold out event, which served as the finale to the LEGENDS Tour that had notched up nine dates across the US, was always going to be a special celebration, with founders Garren, Howard McLaren and Thom Priano all present, in house, in their own spotlight.

VISION ON is all about looking and learning. Stylists can get in to the mind of each presenter and learn why we reference a legend and how we bring this inspiration into our work now. - Howard McLaren

It’s about fantasy verses reality. You’ll see what has inspired me and how I translate this inspiration in pictures, as well as for clients. Hairdressers will be getting into my head in under an hour! - Garren

It’s important not only to do what’s current now, but look to see what the trends are in the future. - Thom Priano

Dedicated to honouring the hair legends from the 20s through to the present day, each delivered separate presentations in a round robin style format, allowing all attendees to get up close and personal with each mentor. This included Garren’s ‘Unforgettable Images Of Our Generation’ that saw eight looks created on one model, of which Madonna’s 1991 Vanity Fair ‘Marilyn’ cover look was recreated in addition to the ‘Sofia Lauren’. Priano’s class was, in his own words, “defining the individuality of men”, and delivered two transformations, while McLaren held court with his passionate insight and humour, discussing iconic hairdressing figures that has impacted his career while presenting two models adopting his notable razor cutting techniques.

Closing the day, the collective presented a finale showcase that led straight into the Vision On Pop-up. R+Co Radio had Lady Sha and guest DJ, Jamie Hince of the Kills on the decks, with a variety of specially curated cocktails, photo opportunities and a SWAG shop. There was even a rodeo, which was not for the faint hearted.

Lead UK Educator, Natasha Briggs said,

Watching and learning from the collective is incredibly inspiring. I’ve learnt more about the trade that I enjoy, revisiting the culture of hairdressing with an in depth account of their hairdressing journeys - their work is simply incredible.

Alastair J Gourley, Managing Director of Rebel Beauty Brands LTD and distributor of R+Co in the UK and Ireland, said,

The collective have lived phenomenal careers, and their story telling is as captivating as their work is live on stage. As you’d expect, the after party was a chance for all to meet the R+Co Global Artist team and enjoy the character of the brand together.
