Session hair was at the heart of the Fellowship’s recent Masterclass at the GHD Academy in Leeds on Monday 27th June. The night was fantastic with a packed audience ready to learn at an evening tailored around styling hair.

Joseph Ferraro from Joseph Ferraro Hair was the compere for the evening, and he did an amazing job of ensuring the night went smoothly. He was joined on stage by three renowned industry experts who presented beautiful hair and demonstrated incredible skills, plus an insight into Sharon Peake’s career to date with a one to one interview.

First to the stage were Robert Eaton and Jodie Palmer from Russell Eaton, with their concept inspired by bondage and the idea of being able to manipulate and change the hair while also dominating and controlling the style. They demonstrated the ability to use product in a way that is different to that of the salon, while also enhancing textures with mesh and braiding. Their presentation models saw Russell use neat ponytails to flow into a stunning back braid, while Jodie showcased an origami feel with a latex finish.

It was incredible to hear where they get their inspiration from, but also to learn how they manage being a session stylist with running a column. The ability to meet the demands of the stylist, sponsor and designer in the time limit given and with the number of models is something you learn to adapt to and you also learn to build a strong portfolio.

After a fantastic start to the night it was then an opportunity to hear from award-winner Sharon Peake from Ethos Hairdressing in Manchester. Joseph and Sharon had a fantastic relationship on stage with the audience really able to develop an understanding of Sharon’s own career path.

She spoke of her involvement in the renowned F.A.M.E. Team for getting her to where she is today, as well as speaking about the huge part The Fellowship has had in her own career, whether it be stage work or pure people inspiration! Sharon went on to convey her own background in shoots, session work and being an ambassador before speaking fondly of the team at Ethos, including Adam Bryant.

The interview was the perfect introduction for the final artist of the night, Adam Bryant, Sharon’s business partner. An array of industry experience follows Adam, including being show director for Toni&Guy and working with magazines such as Italian Vogue. He shared wonderful photo shoot stories, including a personal career highlight where he worked at Paris Fashion Week.

It wasn’t just about the stories but also about the hair. His demonstration saw Adam backcomb the hair before using a diffuser and spray to showcase just how you can make the hair bend into the desired shape. His presentation model had a beautiful ethereal feel that reiterated just why Adam cannot live without a comb, hairdryer and dry hairspray.

It was an incredible evening and another fantastic Masterclass for The Fellowship! Joseph Ferraro, from Joseph Ferraro Hair, said,

Session Masterclass was amazing from start to finish. The audience were able to hear personal stories from industry experts, while also being able to learn top tips on this bespoke art. I felt honoured to be on stage with such incredible artists and to be able to have the opportunity to share their skills with The Fellowships inspired members. What a great night!
