The Fellowship Teams Get Underway

Share

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Projects all boast a packed year of opportunities, education and exposure for their members, as the ClubStar Art Team and PROJECT: Men discovered in their first sessions of 2020.

The ClubStar Art Team recently enjoyed their debut meeting with Project Leader, Karoliina Saunders – her first session as the new mentor. Their debut session involved getting to know one another, and Karoliina, with informal presentations of personal mood boards. Soon, it was time to hear what the next 12 months have in store, starting with assisting Karoliina at London Fashion Week.

This incredible opportunity will be starting the year on a high, but backstage also means high pressure, which is why Karoliina spent time briefing the team on the essential required session kit and backstage do’s and don’ts. Karoliina then took the team through some fashion week essentials - placing a perfect parting, ponytails, backcombing and braiding. As well as getting the team up to scratch, this session also allowed Karoliina to assess their current abilities.

Team member Darcey Clarke from Ashley Gamble says:

The whole year looks so exciting; I couldn’t pick just one thing that I’m most excited for! I really want to make my mark in the hairdressing world, and I hope the ClubStar Art Team will be that platform to help grow myself and my career to the next level.

PROJECT: Men also had their first training session of the year, led for a second time by Jonathan Andrew.

Their journey started with introductions, getting to know each other’s career experiences to date, as well as learning more about Jonathan’s career history and expertise. Jonathan then outlined the team’s year ahead; with their mentors and opportunities they will be enjoying over the next 12 months. In the afternoon, Jonathan demonstrated some classic cuts and techniques to the team, to bolster their basic knowledge and share his insights.

Team member George Smith from Smith England says:

I’m excited about all aspects of what’s to come - if I had to narrow it down, it’s going to be the fact I’ll have a massive variety in barbering and hairdressing experience, which will take me away from the tunnel vision headset I feel I am currently in.
