At a glittering awards ceremony in The Grosvenor House, at JW Marriot Hotel in London’s Park Lane, the winners of Hairdressers Journal’s 28th British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional were announced. The biggest event in the hairdressing calendar, it was a night the HOB Creative Team won’t forget as they were awarded their trophy for making the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame!

Launched in 1985, the British Hairdressing Awards recognise and reward hairdressers who are pushing the boundaries of hairdressing, creating and setting the trends for others to follow and excelling in this creative and competitive industry. This year compered by leading media personality David Walliams with entertainment provided by chart topping Labrinth, guests from the world of hairdressing, fashion and media mingled at the prestigious event. Welcomed on to the stage by the celeb compere, alongside Publishing Director of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr, the HOB Creative Team took centre stage, recognised for winning the acclaimed Artistic Team of the Year award in 2008, 2009 and 2011, seeing them secure the hat-trick achieved by very few for Hall of Fame recognition.

Taking their place amongst the most elite and talented in the industry, Head of HOB Education and Creative Team member Claire Atkinson said,

Tonight has been incredible. For us as a team, winning this award three times was a highlight in our careers, and is testament to the incredible team we have around us. We are so proud to be in the Hall of Fame and take our place amongst the hairdressing greats in our industry.

Sadly on the night, HOB Salons International Creative Director and three times British Hairdresser of the Year winner Akin Konizi was unable to attend due to an emergency appendix operation, however Business Partner Paul Simbler took to the stage to accept his award as British Hairdresser of the Year 2011. Relaying a note from Akin, Paul said,

The only thing I am sad about tonight is not seeing my incredible Creative Team receive their Hall of Fame award. This is an amazing achievement, and the award is truly testament to the calibre of each and every member of the team and the hard work they deliver day in and day out.

Jayne Lewis-Orr commented,

Huge congratulations to all the finalists and winners who were recognised this evening.
