With salons currently closed around the UK and Ireland due to lockdown restrictions, those days of kicking back at the salon basin relaxing seem a far distant memory.
While we wait patiently for our stylists to be back in action, we have put together a quick home hair spa ritual that you can sink your teeth into to keep your feeling refreshed and your hair looking gorgeous.
Start with the oil
Once your nice and relaxed, place some drops of oil into your hands and massage the scalp. If you can find someone to carry out the massage part for you, better still! Do not wash your hair before you apply the oil. This can be done on dry unwashed hair. Massage for around 15-20 minutes to help increase blood circulation and stimulate hair growth. Oils that you can use include olive, almond or coconut, but if you want to really spoil yourself, we recommend Kiehl’s Magic Elixir (£30).
Using a towel or cotton cloth, dip it into hot water and squeeze out the excess. Wrap the towel around your head to help the oil penetrate deep into the hair. Steam for around 15-20 minutes.
Wash and Condition
Using lukewarm water, wash your hair using your regular shampoo. Do not use water that is too hot, as this can dry the scalp causing itchiness and dandruff. Apply conditioner and rinse as normal.
The final step and to lock in all those lovely nutrients from the previous steps are to apply a treatment mask. For a real treat to your hair and senses, we recommend Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque (£62.50). You want to leave the mask on for around 20-30 minutes before rinsing off.
Now you know how to give yourself an at home hair spa, you can treat yourself to this little piece of ‘me time’ once every two weeks and see if you notice a difference in not only how your hair feels and looks, but in how you feel on the inside to!
