Sabrina Dijkman’s Top LFW Looks
February saw the return of London Fashion Week with brands showcasing their new autumn/winter collections on the runway.
However, alongside seeing some spectacular new fashion and trends coming up for the autumn/winter season, there were also a lot of hair looks and styling that kept making a reappearance on the runway shows. With that in mind, we caught up with hairstyling expert and ALTERNA Ambassador, Sabrina Dijkman, who talked us through a few of her favourite hair looks that graced the runways and ones that she thinks will be trending throughout 2024...

Sleek, polished ponytails are here to stay for 2024 and I love the low-key vibe that the ponytails had at the L Saha Show. Instead of being slicked, straight back off the face, the ponytails were paired with a clean middle parting and were wore low at the nape for a sophisticated yet chic finish.
When creating this kind of look, your styling products are key, as you want the hair to look as smooth and straight as possible with little to no flyaways. I would always start by washing the hair with a moisturising shampoo and conditioner like ALTERNA Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner to give the hair ultimate hydration and a healthy, smooth, and shiny finish. I would then follow this up by applying into damp hair the ALTERNA Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture CC Cream for extra nourishment, smoothness, and shine alongside heat protection before blow-drying the hair straight and finishing by smoothing over with heated styling irons. Next, use a comb to create that precise, clean looking middle parting and apply some ALTERNA Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Leave-In Smoothing Gelee through the front section of the hair, smoothing this into place with your comb before creating your ponytail and securing into place. This product will help to get rid of any frizz, provide a light, hold and high shine which is a must for this look.

Although not a look for every day, finger waves are such a fun style for those looking for a more unique hairstyling look for any special occasions/events they have coming up. With this look it’s key that the hair looks super glossy and wet in appearance, therefore again, your products are key.
I like to firstly start by misting some water spray through the hair to make it slightly damp and then comb through a gel like ALTERNA Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Leave-In Smoothing Gelee to give the hair a further shine/wet appearance. Then, using your comb and finger, start to create your finger waves, working in small sections to ensure you create these as precisely as possible. Finish by misting through a strong hold hairspray like the ALTERNA Caviar Anti-Aging Professional Styling High Hold Finishing Spray to set the look in place and complete the look.

I love a hair-up and it was great to see the return of sky-high buns and topknots at the Rue Agthonis show, paired with braiding for a more contemporary finish.
With this kind of look I would firstly start by misting through some dry shampoo like the ALTERNA My Hair. My Canvas. Another Day Dry Shampoo through the hair to provide volume and grit before creating your bun. Then, I would bring the hair up into a high ponytail, securing it as high up as possible with a hair tie. Next, I would apply a product like ALTERNA Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture CC Cream through the ponytail before creating my braid and securing at the end with an elastic. Gently pull-out sections of your braid to give it a thicker and fuller appearance and then wrap it around the base of the ponytail to create your bun. Pin the bun into place with hair pins a couple of inches before the braid ends, leaving out a small section of the braid to create an off-duty model appearance with a unique finish.
