UNITE X Alexandra Moura

Share

Based in Lisbon, Portugal, Alexandra Moura creates contemporary avant-garde collections for men and women that reflect her personality and creativity.

Her SS17 women’s wear was inspired by the secret history of ‘lover´s eyes’; Alexandra Moura brings back the romantic Victorian jewellery exchanged between lovers with a whole new approach.

Delicate eye shaped tulle embroideries adorn the garments, keeping the essence of the antique hand painted brooches with a contemporary design and finish.

Bold shapes, ties and ruffles come together and create a dynamic look through iconic, statement items. Sophisticated mesh textures, delicate tulle and intricate brocades offer this collection the perfect bridge between classic and contemporary.

Throughout the collection, damaged and shredded denim unfolds showing remains of an unknown past. From the light shades of blue denim and the black tones, a must have in every collection, a refreshing lavender and a colourful flower-patterned jacquard emerges.

This collection embraces the cool, urban and confident woman that appreciates a unique look.

To complete the look, Matt Stark for UNITE headed up a team of hairstylists backstage at the Alexandra Moura show in The Edition Hotel, London. The brief for the hair complimented the clothing, channelling soft, naturally feminine hair with an element of youthfulness.

We wanted to create a very romantic, pretty, youthful look. As if the girls had been playing outside in the elements and the hair had become a little dishevelled. A ‘love story’ was kept in mind when styling the hair, but the girls still needed to look innocent and natural.

The inspiration was drawn from the Victorian era where girls had very clean, undone hair with just their natural texture and oils working through the hair, so the look needed to be teased, fluffy and fresh.

Key products used were UNITE Blow&Set Lotion to prime the hair, UNITE Boing Curling around the front hairline to encourage curls and the dishevelled look, and then finish with lots of UNITE Texturiza Spray to tease the hair out.
